Dr. Retief, a native South African, received his B.S. degree while attending Vanderbilt University on an athletic scholarship. After a stint on the professional tennis tour, he returned to school and obtained his podiatric medical degree from Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. There he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Timothy Holbrook Memorial Award for excellence in orthopedics. His surgical residency was completed at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, where he also served as chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Retief is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a member of both the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Retief has been in private practice in Nashville since 2002. He is also a commercial pilot and enjoys flying and traveling. Other personal interests include racing, biking, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
